Become a Member-Stockowner

Structured as a stock-based Cooperative, NorthStar customers have a choice to be a member-owner (Common Stockowner). Choosing to be a Common Stockowner has both responsibility and reward.

Responsibilities include capital investment, meeting purchase requirements and voting on governance issues that help guide the Cooperative. The reward of membership is the opportunity to share in the profitability of the organization through patronage.

The requirements to become a Common Stockowner include:

  • Own a dairy or beef farming operation within NorthStar Cooperative’s traditional service area.
  • Meet the minimum annual purchase level of $750. This level is established annually by the member-owners.
  • Purchase one share of Common Stock ($200)
