Progesterone Final Results Interpretation

Progesterone Final Results Interpretation

BACK TO TEST

  • High Results are consistent with the presence of a fully functional corpus luteum (CL). Samples taken within 24 hours of a prostaglandin injection should contain HIGH levels of Progesterone.
  • Low Results are consistent with the absence of a fully functional CL. Samples taken within 24 hours of AI should contain LOW levels of Progesterone.
  • Estrous synchronization programs require cycling cows to respond properly to hormone injections. The presence of circulating Progesterone indicates reproductive cyclicity and the presence of a functional CL capable of responding to synchronization programs. For successful breeding (AI), the absence of a functional CL is required.
  • The percentage of Progesterone values that fall outside of their expected values is indicative of noncompliance, either due to anestrous or improper synchronization protocols.
