NorthStar’s Universal Lab and Wisconsin DHI Lab utilize state of the art Bentley Lab equipment to process milk samples for butterfat, protein, SCC, solids-non-fat and MUN. In addition, routine milk samples can be analyzed for Johne's, Leukosis and BVD with the AntelBio Milk ELISA. Together, the labs analyze more than 2.4 million samples annually.

Universal Lab is based in Lansing, Michigan and processes all samples from Michigan’s lower peninsula, Indiana and Ohio. Universal Lab is jointly owned and operated with Indiana State Dairy Association.

Wisconsin DHI Lab was originally founded in 1942 as Outagamie Central DHIA and was an affiliate of Wisconsin DHI Cooperative. In 1993 they merged with Winnebago County DHI to form Fox Valley DHI Cooperative (Fox Valley). In 1996 they affiliated themselves with National DHI and transferred many of their records for processing through DRMS. In January 2000 Fox Valley producers voted overwhelmingly to join NorthStar Cooperative as a part of the DHI Services business unit.
