SCC Hot Sheet
Free service e-mails SCC results within 24 hours of testing.
According to Carol Decker, Wisconsin DHI Services Lab Supervisor, "The Hot Sheet
is a great management tool as it provides the producer with the top 20 cows
in their herd with high SCC. All of the producers really like this new service
and are able to have better management of their SCC."
NorthStar currently is sending out the Hot Sheet to nearly 600 producers,
veterinarians and consultants. Producers receive the Hot Sheet within
24 hours of the samples being processed through the laboratory. The fast
turnaround time provides customers with a valuable service in detecting
high SCC cows.
Because SCC information is an important management tool, we can e-mail a

 The
top two lines identify the herd by code number and lists the collection
and testing dates of the samples.
Section 1: Lists the milking cows in order of index number along with their
milk weight, percentages of fat, protein, SCC, actual SCC, days in milk
and lactation number. An average is then compiled and displayed in the last
line. Note: Any animals less than 13,000 SCC shows up as a blank on the list and is computed as "O".
Section 2: Lists the top 20 cows that affect your total bulk tank SCC level.
This is based on both the individual cow's milk production and her somatic
cell level. In addition, the Hot Sheet breaks down what the bulk tank somatic
cell count would be if she were to be removed from the tank.
