Sire Conception Rate
The USDA Animal Improvement Laboratory (AIPL) has been researching and developing a new method for evaluation of sire fertility for several years. The new trait is called Sire Conception Rate (SCR) and was released with the August, 2008 sire summary data. The new SCR is a national sire fertility evaluation and offers several significant advantages with probably the most important difference between it and other systems being a larger database with more services, which ultimately contributes to greater accuracy in sire fertility evaluations. Bulk milk testing for Johne’s
Research conducted as part of the National Animal Health Monitoring System (NAHMS) Dairy 2007 Study has shown that testing bulk milk samples can detect the severity of Johne’s disease on dairy farms. Call for candidates
