10 things to know about your Cooperative
Our business has grown and changed significantly to meet our goal of “enhancing producer profitability through integrated services.” In preparing for this month’s article I recalled a recent conversation with a member-owner when they stated, “I didn’t realize NorthStar offered that.” That comment has prompted me to touch on 10 points you should know about your cooperative. Call for candidates
Stockowners in districts 5, 6, 7 and 8 are needed to run for a three-year-term position on the NorthStar Cooperative board of directors. Additionally, stockowners are needed from each district to serve on the resolutions and advisory committee. Interested stockowners must submit a “letter of intent” by November 1, 2011. Heat stress – exactly how does it affect reproduction?
The forecast is for the mid 90’s with high humidity. With those temperatures our reproductive outlook for the immediate future looks extremely challenged. Producers benefiting from AntelBio’s new contagious mastitis test
Many producers are successfully using AntelBio’s Contagious Mastitis PCR Test to identify and address subclinical mastitis issues. Available since May, this test is conducted on DHI and bulk tank samples and lets producers know if and how contagious mastitis is affecting their dairy. To date, results from the contagious mastitis test show that about half, or 52 percent of the herds electing to test are positive for one or more target organisms.
