Member-owners to receive $443,000 of patronage
Despite completing another fiscal year amidst economic challenges, NorthStar Cooperative stayed strong and stable, and declared that $443,000 in patronage be given to eligible members. With the Cooperative’s strong cash position, the board of directors approved paying 50 percent in cash, which member-stockowners will receive in early March. 2010 NorthStar Cooperative Annual Review
Continuing a trend of years of dependable financial performance, NorthStar’s Consolidated Sales Revenues hit $20.1 million with a Net Margin of $742,743. Stockowner annual meeting notice
The annual stockowner meeting of NorthStar Cooperative will begin at 7:45 a.m. (EST) on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at McGuire’s Resort, in Cadillac, Michigan. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m.; followed by the meeting at 7:45 a.m. Business will be conducted between 7:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. only by common stockowners of record as of December 31, 2010. $1,500 awarded to scholarship winners
Stacey Choate of Cement City, Michigan, Katelyn Horning of Manchester, Michigan and Lauren Holterman of Watertown, Wisconsin were selected to receive $500 scholarships from NorthStar Cooperative to pursue an education in the field of agriculture. Established in 2005, the NorthStar Cooperative scholarship program is open to all stockowners and their children who are currently enrolled in post-high school study in the field of agriculture. Election results
NorthStar Cooperative member-stockowners recently elected members to serve on the Cooperative’s board of directors, as well as advisory and resolutions committee. Newly elected members to the board of directors include: Andy Wolf of Oconto Falls, Wisconsin and Brad Crandall of Battle Creek, Michigan. Incumbents Jeff Horning, Manchester, Michigan, Dan Mielke, Colby, Wisconsin and Dave Goodrich, Deer Park, Wisconsin were all reelected. Producers recognized for top production honors
NorthStar Cooperative DHI Services has named award winners for the 2010 testing year. Awards are given by geographic area and are based on a herd’s annual rolling herd average as completed with NorthStar’s DHI Services. PCDART workshops planned
Dairy producers using PCDART are invited to participate in one of eight hands-on workshops that will be conducted in March by NorthStar Cooperative. The day-long workshops will explore PCDART 7.14.0 – the newest release of PCDART. Workshop topics also include how to track cow health data, taking a closer look at SCC and the new Maternity and Conception Trackers. AntelBio and NorthStar continue to integrate services
Changes in early 2010 integrated AntelBio testing invoices with other NorthStar products and services. Additionally AntelBio is transitioning the sales and service of commercial diagnostic testing to DHI. This allows AntelBio to focus efforts on laboratory procedures and research and development, and puts their diagnostic products in the hands of trained DHI specialists, where direct field support can be provided. AntelBio to participate in international Johne’s research project
AntelBio was selected to participate in a Johne’s research project being coordinated by the Johne’s Disease Integrated Program (JDIP). In the this research project, an extensive set of biological samples will be assembled from infected cows to evaluate the performance of existing and future diagnostic tests for Johne’s disease. Once collected, this comprehensive panel of milk, blood, fecal and tissue samples will be made available to all JDIP scientists to determine the most effective testing strategies for detection of Johne’s disease.
