Bio Cycle Plus has been tested in scores of herds across the USA. Many dairymen have been introduced to the Select Product Program by first feeding Select DTX. Significant response is experienced by a large percentage of these dairymen. Once debilitation caused by molds is dealt with, the next step is to include Select Bio Cycle into the feeding program. “We had mold problems in the past and had started the herd on DTX to help with reproduction. The DTX really helped get the cows settled so when we began having trouble again a few years later we knew we must have a pretty serious mold problem. Feed tests confirmed extremely high levels of the mycotoxin vomitoxin so our NorthStar sales Representative Ed Nichols suggested doubling the microbial dose until we got through the bad batch of silage. Because the high levels of mycotoxins had also taken their toll on overall herd health, the cows were stressed, our somatic cell count (SCC) was up and we were seeing several cases of mastitis. We decided to add Bio Cycle Plus to the ration for added herd health benefits in addition to the DTX and within one month our cows started settling again, herd health began to steadily improve and as a result our SCC dropped and the mastitis began to clear up. We have since kept Bio Cycle Plus in the ration and haven’t had any further problems with reproduction, SCC or mastitis. Now that herd health is good again we might switch back to only DTX for protection against mycotoxins, but because we never know when we are going to hit a moldy batch of feed we can’t afford not to keep Bio Cycle Plus or DTX in the ration. A few of our neighbors have also had problems and we have recommended Bio Cycle Plus and DTX for mycotoxin problems. “Our SCC had been all over the board in 2003 and in November it started steadily climbing. We also noticed that many of the cows had inconsistent manure, were going off-feed and ultimately we began seeing numerous DA’s. On top of that, the cows were not ovulating for as many as eight days after they came into heat and I knew from past experience that I had better get the feed tested for toxins.

The test results revealed high levels of DON and zearalenone; and while I had great results with Bio Cycle Plus in 2000, I was trying to cut costs so I experimented with another product that was said to have the same results.

The other microbial/clay product that I tried did help with feed intake, unfortunately that is all that happened. It was clear that I needed to get both groups of cows on Bio Cycle Plus.

Since starting back on Bio Cycle Plus, the herd’s services per conception has dropped from 3.5 to 2.5, the ovulation cycles are regulating back to 12 to 24 hours and we have not had a single DA. I have seen the differences between products and it’s simple; Bio Cycle Plus just plain works. I know Bio Cycle Plus will take care of the cows when there is mold in the feed.”

"We started using Select Bio Cycle Plus because our cows were on and off feed and our bulk tank milk weight was fluctuating all the time. There was no rhyme or reason to it. When we started feeding Select Bio Cycle Plus, we gained two pounds per cow right off the bat and the fluctuation in the bulk tank quit totally. In addition, within two to three months of starting Select Bio Cycle Plus we noticed stronger heats and improved overall herd health. Even the hoof trimmer says the condition of their feet is much better. In fact, the last two times he's been here, there's been no laminitis.
