3: Glue Beads
- The BOVINE BEACON standing
heat indicator is designed to be applied directly over the cow's backbone
between the hip and pin bones (See Figure 1 above). Examine this location
on the cow. If necessary, curry the area to remove dirt and loose hair.
Under wet or rainy conditions, dry the area before applying the BOVINE
BEACON standing heat indicator.
- Locate and grip the TAB (Figure
2 above).
- Turn the BOVINE BEACON standing
heat indicator upside down, and apply beads of glue to the cloth as
shown in Figure 3 above. Each BOVINE BEACON standing heat indicator
is packaged with a glue applicator. Use only the glue that is provided
with the BOVINE BEACON standing heat indicator.
- Place the BOVINE BEACON standing
heat indicator, glue-side down, on the backbone, between the hip and
pin bones with the tab facing the tail.
- Press down on the cloth edges
of the BOVINE BEACON standing heat indicator to work the glue into the
hair.
Visually inspect each cow
that has a BOVINE BEACON standing heat indicator twice a day at 12 hour
intervals, or more often if possible. The Bovine Beacon will activate after
only one riding.
Note: To reduce false activations with the BOVINE BEACON standing heat
indicator Standing Heat Indicator, prevent cow contact with low hanging
branches, back scratchers, cattle oilers, etc. Also use care with "can't
kick" devices to avoid false activation.
