Select Sires, the Home of O MAN, Adds Three More Sons

PLAIN CITY, Ohio, April 9, 2009 — Upon release of the April 2009 genetic evaluations, Select Sires graduates six new Holstein sires into active-A.I. The improved lineup includes three new sons of the popular sire father 7HO6417 O-Bee MANfred Justice-ET.

“O MAN is leaving his legacy as the sire to turn to for elite health traits, breed-leading Net Merit, extreme calving ease and outstanding components and now his sons are carrying on the same tradition,” said Blaine Crosser, vice president of dairy sire product line and sales management for Select Sires. “In addition to these elite new O MAN sons, we graduated three additional sires that offer the balance of production, type and fitness traits that you have come to expect from Select Sires. Our new releases offer selections over +$600 Net Merit, +1900 TPI and 5% Calving Ease and positive components.”

The source of O MAN, Select Sires graduated his first sons in January and now adds to the selection with three more. 7HO8659 Glen-D-Haven Oman SILVA-ET hails from a cow family known for high protein production with strong front ends and sound feet and legs. A Superior Settler™, SILVA spells milk production at +2,141 Milk. And at 5% Calving Ease, he is an excellent option for the heifer pens.

7HO8625 Mr Schultz Oman BUTCH-ET also continues the legacy of elite Calving Ease at 5%. Backed by two generations of dams with more than 30,000 pounds of milk and 4 percent fat, BUTCH improves the bottom line at +$600 Net Merit with elite components (.09%F and +.11%P). With +60P, BUTCH stands among Select’s finest and even tops his sire. Not surprising from an O MAN son, BUTCH also transmits longevity as a Herdlife Builder™ with +3.3 Productive Life. At +1908 TPI, BUTCH makes trouble-free cattle with moderate frames and excellent feet and legs (+3.08 FLC).

Former Super Sampler™ 7HO8612 Art-Acres Just BOB 988-ET is the result of the successful O MAN x 7HO5375 Mara-Thon BW MARSHALL-ET combination. Another high-TPI sire at +1900, BOB also offers strong Milk yield (+1,550) and positive components (+.08%F and +.06%P). Additionally, BOB ranks among the top-10 at Select for both pounds of Protein (+61) and pounds of Fat (+79), improves feet and legs (+2.57 FLC) and offers 6% Calving Ease.

More New Graduates Offer Balanced Genetics
New Release and Superior Settler 7HO8581 Pine-Ledge Brass Mic BRAHAM is sired by 7HO5653 Halo Emory BRASS-ET. BRASS was one of Select’s great customer-satisfaction sires who experienced extreme second-crop success. BRAHAM transmits exceptional components, particularly Fat yield (+.13%F and +69). He also offers extraordinary linear traits and ranks among Select’s best at +2.81 UDC and +2.85 Type.

7HO8539 Eastview Throne THANE-ET is an outcross opportunity with no DURHAM, EMORY or BW MARSHALL in his pedigree. THANE is an elite HealthMark™ sire at +4.0 Productive Life, +2.4 Daughter Pregnancy Rate and 2.82 Somatic Cell Score. At +2.25 Type and +2.26 UDC, his daughters are built to last in any environment.

Style from ENGLAND
Debuting as the No. 3 sire in the breed for Type at +3.97 is 7HO9012 Penn-ENGLAND Deann 285A-ET. This Roylane Jordan-ET son comes from an incredibly milky cow family. He sires great dairy, open-ribbed cows with outstanding feet and legs and terrific udder attachments. At +2.74 UDC and +2.14 FLC, he is the complete type package. ENGLAND tops Select’s lineup for front teat placement (+4.64), udder cleft (+5.82) and dairy form (+6.11).
